Capetown on the southern tip of South Africa used to be one of the most popular destinations for people searching for a new life in the sun. With the ending of apartheid in the early 90s, migration policy became confused and the opportunities for settling in the republic dwindled. The number of people applying to emigrate there also fell dramatically.
